Joey Seiler (b. New York, 1989) lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.

A surfer at heart, he was raised in Brazil and returned to the United States for his undergraduate studies in Fine Arts at the University of San Diego (2014). After a brief stint back in Rio, Joey moved to London and earned his Master’s in Fine Arts degree from Goldsmiths University (2018). He defines his art as “either an exercise in meditation or a colossal waste of time. In any case, he keeps on working.”

In 2014, he was introduced to Brazil’s art scene by Martha Pagy Escritório de Arte with his first gallery show. From 2012 to 2020, Joey exhibited in solo and group shows in Rio de Janeiro, San Diego, and London. His work has since become a fixture at ArtRio, displayed in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021, in addition to being shown at the Artsoul print fair (2021) and SP Arte VR (2021). This year, he contributed to curator Marc Pottier’s Circular Arte na Praça project and participated in the first edition of ARTSAMPA with Martha Pagy, both in São Paulo.
