Fábia Schnoor

Her degree from Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage (EAV) is in fine arts, and
she holds degrees in ceramics, art education, and design from PUC-Rio. Where, in
2009, she took part in the course História e Tempo: História e Cultura da
Memória with professor Margarida de Souza Neves which was the basis for her
interdisciplinary study on memory.
From 2009-2012, artist Iole de Freitas was her mentor in the course Análise e
Inserção da Produção Contemporânea, and she is selected in 2012 for the
program Projeto Pesquisa curated by Glória Ferreira and Luiz Ernesto, both at
EAV. In 2012, she is also Antony Gormley’s art assistant in installing his work,
Amazonian Field at CCBB, Rio de Janeiro. In 2013 she participated in Berlin Im
Fokus artist residency, in Berlin and, in 2015, the Echangeur 22 residency in
Avignon, France.
Her first individual exhibit was “co--->memorar,” in 2011, at Galeria Largo das
Artes, Rio de Janeiro, curated by Martha Pagy. She’s participated in group
exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, such as “Residual Benefits,” Phoenix Institute of
Contemporary Art (phICA), Arizona (2012), curated by Ted Decker; “Abre Alas,”
A Gentil Carioca, Rio de Janeiro (2013), curated by João Modé, Alexandre Sá, and
Daniela Castro; “Noite Azul Elétrico,” Mendes Wood, São Paulo (2013), curated
by Ricardo Sardenberg; “A Imagem em Questão,” EAV, 2013, curated by Glória
Ferreira and Luiz Ernesto; and “Resonances,” Künstlerhaus Bethanien,” Berlin
(2013). In 2013 she won Projeto Múltiplo – Instituto Plajap, and in 2014 she was
selected for the Prêmio Pipa. In 2015 she has a solo exhibition, “Lugar,” at Centro
Cultural Candido Mendes, Rio de Janeiro, at the invitation of Paulo Sergio Duarte
who both curated and wrote the critical text, and in 2016 a solo exhibition
“Topografia do Instante,” curated by Keyna Eleison, at the Centro Cultural da
Justiça Federal, Rio de Janeiro.
